On December 1st, people around the world will observe World AIDS Day to honor those individuals who have died from AIDS and those currently living with the HIV virus. The theme for this year is ” Focus, Partner, Achieve: An AIDS free Generation.” Behind the theme is to reflect and focus on intervention and awareness through education and to partner with a wide range of stakeholders and organizations to control the epidemic.
There are 35 million people living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. There are 3.2 million children infected with the HIV virus during pregnancy. In the MENA region alone, there are 230,000 reported HIV cases in 2013. As the world remembers this day, don’t forget to get tested and spread the awareness.
